AUTUMN 2008

We hope that you have all had a most enjoyable summer and would like to give a very big welcome to both existing and new class members.

We have a very busy and exciting term ahead of us with lots of updates and news to report.

Our first Summer School at Ardley Village Hall during August bank holiday week was very successful for both children and adults alike. The progress and improvement of technique, stamina and choreography was evident for all to see.

The children behaved impeccably during their very busy and energetic daytime schedule. Circuits with Viv every morning set the pace with Andrzej being a keen participant!! The days were full of fitness training and technique ending with an excellent presentation and report in progress to the parents and guests with some very rewarding and positive comments being made towards our successful venture.

The adults weren’t quite as well behaved during their busy and energetic evening sessions!! Again with repeated technique and choreography training such an improvement was achieved for all to see. The end of the adult summer school was a much more informal affair with staff members arriving in their pyjamas exhausted after a most enjoyable time had by everyone! We hope to repeat this most successful experience. WATCH THIS SPACE!!

The next big event for your calendars will be the dance Spectacular on Saturday 13th December 2008 at the Mill in Banbury. Where from 12.00-2.00pm we will be holding a presentation of all of our new young dance school pupils and also a very special presentation from dance pupils from Queensway School in Banbury. It is requested that all children taking part in either the presentations will be wearing dance school T-shirts and appropriate dance footwear both are available either during your lessons or via Sue or Bryan Douglas on 07802 916573. Please note that full payment for T-shirts on order and at 50% deposit for shoes is required. Tickets for adult spectators are priced at £5.00 each and will be available before or after lessons.

Next on the bill will be the very first competition for children and teenagers along side the adults who can repeat their exciting experience from 3.00-6.00pm in no doubt much cooler conditions this time! Smart attire/evening wear is suggested for both the children and adult competitions. Can you please confirm competition entry by 21st November 2008 by completing the attached registration form and returning to staff at your lesson along with full payment of the entry fee of £10.00 per adult couple and £5.00 per child/teenage couple. Once again, Andrea our excellent compere at our successful first adult competition will be on hand to introduce and present all eager competitors!! Spectator tickets will be available in advance priced at £7.00 per adult.

This exciting and busy day will be concluded with a Christmas party for all adults and parents from 7.30-12.00pm. Dust off your glad rags and let your hair down to the live sounds of ‘Lady Blue’ who will be playing a great mix of popular Latin and Ballroom numbers. We will also be treated to some very special surprises, including a professional Latin and Ballroom dance demonstration, show dances etc! Tickets will be available in advance at a price of £17.50 each or £32.00 per couple. Those adults taking part in the competition will enjoy a discounted price.

We would like to give a very warm welcome to our new member of staff Kamila Domanska whom many were lucky enough to meet at the competition and presentation in May. Kamila, an international dance champion has started teaching in the Northampton area and has also been covering lessons both in Brackley and Kidlington. Full details of all of our existing and new dance classes are available either on the reverse of this newsletter or on our website.

During the next month our dance school is taking part in the very worthwhile charity event ‘Children In Need’. BBC Radio Northampton have approached our dance school to take part in a charity ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ which will hopefully encourage more local people to come along and enjoy our interest. Members of the Dance School will be teaching and taking their DJ partners through their paces! The final will take place in Wicksteed Park on Saturday 29th November 2008; more details of tickets etc for this unique evening will be released shortly. The winner of this regional competition will be taking part in a televised national competition so come on, let’s get behind our guys and support them!! In conjunction with this exciting venture we are going to be holding a Charity practise session on Saturday 22nd November at our usual venue Ardley Village Hall from 6.00-9.00pm. Raffle prizes would be greatly received, any volunteers to be Pudsey?

Stuck for ideas this Xmas? The dance school has introduced an excellent idea of gift vouchers available in denominations of £10, £20 and £30 for a unique pressie. This is ideal for either existing dance fanatics or maybe for someone new to have a taste of our passion for dance. Gift vouchers can be used within the dance school in anyway you choose from just a class session, a block of lessons or for a real treat private tuition with Andrzej.

We have some very exciting changes and ventures to look forward to going into 2009. We will be introducing our membership scheme from January offering our regulars excellent discounts and savings on their lessons, social events and private lessons with Andrzej. The price for an adult couples membership will be £90.00 with the price being £50.00 for a single dancer. We believe that this will offer great savings and incentives to those of you who regularly attend dance classes.

Another widely requested venture for both children and adults are medal classes. After the Christmas break we hope to commence with Bronze and Silver medal examinations, this will give the enthusiastic and ambitious dancers amongst us a goal to achieve and a realisation of the level that we are currently achieving. Medals are not compulsory as we appreciate many of our members come along not only to be the next Lilia or Darren but for social fun and to keep fit and healthy! Please complete the attached form and return at your lesson expressing interest in partaking in medals.

We are also hoping to organise a dance holiday in early April to Andrzej’s hometown of Szczecin. We are proposing to enjoy four days with a mixture of training, sightseeing and of course dancing! Please complete form attached if you would be interested in our forthcoming trip.

With our annual trip to Bournemouth rapidly approaching we have reserved lunch tables again at the popular Twenty’s restaurant in Post Office Road. We have organised a hot buffet lunch priced at £15.00 per head, Sue Douglas will be visiting dance classes in the very near future to enable you to ask any questions and sell lunch tickets if anyone requires them. We currently have two spectator tickets available priced at £38.60 each if there is anyone else who would like to join us for this most enjoyable experience. Please contact Sue directly on 07802 916573 as soon as possible to ensure you don’t miss out on this fantastic competition.

We trust that this has covered all news past and present to keep all you dancers informed and updated of all of our exciting future developments and opportunities. If you have any questions or suggestions please feel free to express them either before or after dance classes, feedback is very important for the continuing growth of our successful dance school.

KEEP DANCING!

Best Wishes to All
